MADURAI: The ‘Swachch Bharat’ cleanliness drive carried out by the BJP cadres in Madurai city on September 17th 2017 has exposed the poor sanitation and lack of basic amenities for the people.
A massive cleanliness drive was undertaken all over the city by BJP to mark the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
People in several wards are living in such a pathetic condition that a question arises whether the Madurai Corporation is there at all, is it functioning, is the corporation officials and staff aware of bad condition in wards?
It is a shame on the part of Madurai Corporation.

The piled up garbage, dumping of waste, lack of drinking water supply and borewells in Chappaniakoil Merku Sandhu area in Therkutheru (Ward 65) is an example of where the Madurai Corporation had failed miserably.
Mandal president Murali, BJP’s ward candidate for local body elections Adhi Narayan Sekhar (ward 65), Nehru Nagar N.Selvakumar, ward president Selvam, general secretary Balamurugan and ward secretary Janarthanan along with ward member Manikandan were among the local BJP cadres who took part in the ‘Swachch Baharat’ cleanliness mission in Therkutheru-Keerathurai areas.
“We are living with mosquitoes and snakes….Fever cases are increasing in our area….We are suffering a lot….the area behind Meenakshi Theatre needs urgent attention. We are all ready to sign letters and take our fight with the Madurai Corporation authorities. Ward 65 is stinking,” several women residents had lamented on September 17th 2017.
