MADURAI: The State Secretary of BJP Prof.Dr.R.Srinivasan has condoled the death of teenager S.Anitha from Ariyalur district in Tamil Nadu who committed suicide on September 1st 2017 for not getting medical college admission through NEET process.
“It is an irreparable loss ….not only to her family but to the country. I feel sad to know that a meritorious student had committed suicide. It is most unfortunate and should not have happened… The BJP condoles her death,” Prof.Dr.Srinivasan said speaking to ‘Lotus Times’ website on September 2nd 2017 (Saturday).
CALLS FOR PROBE:
The BJP leader has demanded that the police / State Government should conduct a probe into this girl’s suicide because there could be an extraneous trigger that might have led to her suicide.
“Though it is a suicide, I don’t fully believe the reason cited…..I demand a thorough probe in to what pushed her to death. The Anti-NEET slogans and political comments on medical college admission process would have triggered to commit suicide,” Prof.Dr.Srinivasan added.

He felt that the probe must look into how a poor girl from rural background could go to Delhi to voice against NEET. “So, we strongly suspect that there are some other instigating reasons too that might have forced the teenager Anitha to take this extreme step,” he said.
Dr.Srinivasan clarified that if the Government takes a policy decision, then there is no possibility of status quo.
“Even after the results of SSLC and Plus Two examinations are declared, we hear the news of some students committing suicides in many States across the country. It is the responsibility of community to be sensitive to such issues and help our youth to overcome stress in such examination and admission related situations,” the BJP State Secretary had observed.
