MADURAI: Joy, devotion, celebration and very good participation of women and children marked the Vinayaga Chathurthi festival celebrations at D.R.O.Colony residential quarters in Madurai this year.
For the first time, the residents of this colony put up a hugely attractive Vinayaga idol and organised special events for children and women. The participation was very high in the various events including the ‘kolam’ competition held in the locality from 8 p.m. on August 26th 2017 (Saturday).
BJP local leaders in D.R.O.Colony-K.Pudur area helped in organising the festival in a grand manner for three days from August 25th to 27th.
The idol ‘Sakthi Vinayagar’ stood out as an attraction. Even though this was the first year that the colony residents (government quarters) conducted Vinayaga Chathurthi festival events in public, there was lot of jubilation among the people staying in residential quarters here.

ORGANISING COMMITTEE:
According to colony residents, an organising committee with youngsters took care of the Vinayaga Chathurthi arrangements. The youth who were on this committee include Senthoor Pandi, Karan Pandian, Bhoopathy, Raja Charan.
Prizes were distributed to the winners by Mrs.Sunitha Mallady, BJP Madurai Urban city district secretary in the presence of Mr.M.Swaminathan, BJP Ward president (Ward 47) and Mr.R.Murugan Ji, executive committee member from BJP Pudur mandal.
Consolation prizes were also given to participants. Many families participated in the events and expressed their happiness for conducting this year’s Vinayaga Chathurthi in a great manner.
