MADURAI: A BJP delegation led by party’s State Secretary Prof.Dr.R.Srinivasan and Madurai city unit president Mr.Saseeraman met the Corporation Commissioner Dr.Aneesh Sekhar on August 21st 2017 (Monday) and submitted a list of demands on behalf of the people.
Issues pertaining to house tax and civic amenities in various wards, especially in the added areas of Madurai Corporation, were raised by the BJP team during this meeting.
The representation submitted to the Madurai Corporation Commissioner consists of two parts.
While one list highlighted the need to streamline property tax collection without giving additional burden to the people, the second list of demands urged the Corporation to provide Under Ground (UG) drainage facility, protected and safe drinking water and laying of good quality roads in the 28 wards which were added to the Corporation in October 2011.

DRINKING WATER AND PARKS:
The BJP delegation urged the Corporation Commissioner Mr.Aneesh Sekhar to immediately give instructions for desilting of all water bodies and channels in order to increase the groundwater table in city limits. This will prevent drinking water scarcity in the city.
Neglect and poor maintenance of parks was also taken to the attention of the corporation commissioner. Another demand of the Madurai Team BJP was to undertake mosquito control measures in all wards to prevent dengue fever cases in the city.
Mr.Bharathi Raja and D.M.Balakrishnan, Madurai district (city) general secretaries, Mrs.Sunitha Mallady, district secretary and Madurai North Assembly Constituency in-charge Mr.K.K.Nagar M.Kannan, were among those who were part of BJP team that met the Madurai Corporation Commissioner on August 21st.
