MADURAI: Young MP of the BJP in Lok Sabha and the party’s youth wing national president Ms.Poonam Mahajan has thanked Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi and Union HRD Minister Mr.Prakash Javadekar for bringing in reformatory IIM Bill to provide autonomy to the Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) in the country.
“The aspirations of our youth are well known to the PM and to our Union Minister Mr.Javadekar. With commitment, Mr.Modi’s government is working to fulfill their aspirations. As a youth, I too aspire….the words of Modi are aspire and inspire….I thank the Prime Minister for this important Bill,” she said in the Lok Sabha on July 28th 2017.
Ms.Poonam Mahajan, who is the Lok Sabha MP representing Mumbai North Central, was speaking during the legislative business on Bill for Consideration and Passing the Indian Institutes of Management Bill – 2017 on Friday (28th July 2017).
NATIONAL IMPORTANCE:
The Bill declares all the 20 IIMs in the country as institutes of national importance, they will be granted autonomy and can award degrees to students passing out every year.
In India, the first IIMs were started at Ahmedabad and Calcutta in the year 1961 and later on established in other places.
She has said that the very fact that the Bill was getting passed in the Lok Sabha shows that the Modi government thinks for the youth and their higher education quality. Ms.Poonam Mahajan profusely thanked the Union HRD Minister Mr.Javadekar by stating that this move leads to a golden era for the IIMs in the country.
GOOD SPEECH BY POONAM:
Prof.Saugata Roy of All India Trinamool Cnogress, who is Lok Sabha MP from Dum Dum (West Bengal), said that she liked the speech of young MP Ms.Poonam Mahajan because she spoke on the aspirations of Indian youth.
“The IIMs BIll 2017 is a progressive bill because the central govenrment and HRD Ministry are giving powers to the IIMs which are prestigious institutions,” Mr.Roy said.
Other MPs who spoke in the Lok Sabha on July 28th 2017 on the IIMs Bill include Nagendra Kumar of the Biju Janata Dal (Sambalpur in Odisha), Ravindra Babu Pandula of the TDP, Jithender Reddy of TRS (Mahabubnagar in Telangana), Dr.Kirit P.Solanki of BJP (Ahmedabad West in Gujarat) and Prem Das Rai of the SDF from Sikkim.
