RAMESWARAM: Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi had made a deep connect of himself with pilgrim town Rameswaram and told a huge gathering on why he likes this place and attaches lot of importance.

Addressing a huge gathering after declaring open the national memorial of Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam here on July 27th 2017, he told the reasons and stated that it was  a great honour for him to come to this great soil.

“Rameswaram is a very scared place….it is  a great honour for me to touch this great soil…this is a place of jyothirlingam and a centre of deep spiritual knowledge,” the Prime Minister has said.

KARMA YOGI KALAM:

Apart from being an ancient holy place and lighthouse of spiritual influence, Rameswaram is also the birthplace of Dr.Abdul Kalam who came from here in the form of a karma yogi, a great teacher-thinker and scientist and went on to become our country’s great President, Mr.Modi said.

Another reason cited by him for liking Rameswaram is that Swami Vivekananda visited after his return from the United States in the year 1897 where he gave the famous speech at the World Parliament of Religions in Chicago.

Mr.Modi said that Rameswaram is very much important for us since Lord Rama went on a mission from here.

“This is a sacred land that gave us famous son Dr.Kalam whose thoughts, simplicity and calmness had enormous influence on countrymen….so, like the squirrel which helped in a small way, let us all take small steps to make India great,” he added.

NDA’s Vice-President candidate Mr.M.Venkaiah Naidu, Tamil Nadu Governor Ch.Vidyasagar Rao, Chief Minister Mr.Edappadi Palaniswami and Union Ministers Mr.Pon.Radhakrishnan and Mrs.Nirmala Sitharaman were among those on the dais when the Prime Minister spoke. (The Prime Minister’s speech in Hindi was translated by BJP senior leader Mr.H.Raja into Tamil).
