MADURAI: In a move aimed at larger connect with the people and expand its public service outreach activities, the Madurai district unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on April 14th, 2017 started e-seva centre at its office in Bibikulam in Madurai city.
A large number of party cadres and volunteers attended the inauguration function held coinciding with the Tamil New Year day. Through this e-seva centre situated in the basement of Reliance showroom from where already the popular ‘Makkal Sevai Mayyam’ is functioning, the party will provide a wide range of services essential to the general public which are under the Central and State governments.
In the presence of BJP State Secretary Prof.Dr.R.Srinivasan, the party’s Madurai district president (urban) Mr.Saseeraman formally declared open the centre and expressed confidence that the idea of starting e-seva centre would be great opportunity for the party to have direct connect with the people of Madurai.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr.Srinivasan said that the objective is to make available online schemes of the State and central governments through a specially created help desk where only government fixed charges will be collected for the services. For example, the BJP’s new initiative of ‘e-sevai mayyam’ will help the public to go for online filling and registration for ration card, community certificate, PAN card, Aadhaar, voter ID, birth and death certificates among other things. “This is another feather in the cap of Madurai BJP. Our party volunteers will guide the public on how to go about for various online services,” Dr.Srinivasan added.
Earlier, T.S.K.Gnaneswaran, BJP district secretary, explained about the role the e-seva centre would play and how it could be a link between the people and administration besides offering guidance to go for online services. Already, through the Makkal Sevai Mayyam (People’s Service Centre), the party has been providing a host of services freely to the people to enable them avail the schemes introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government at the Centre based on their eligibility and government stipulated norms.
A large number of persons had already benefited through the Makkal Sevai Mayyam’s guidance either with students’ educational loans from banks, housing schemes, legal counselling etc. The e-seva centre will function on weekdays from 10 am to 1 pm and from 4 pm to 7 pm.
S.Ilayaraja, BJP’s e-seva centre coordinator, and party’s district office-bearers along with functionaries from various wings participated in the inaugural function.
