RAMANATHAPURAM: Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Mr. L.Ganesan has lashed out at the Dravidian parties in Tamil Nadu for their ill-conceived anti-Hindi policy by pointing out that their stand against learning Hindi language has only done damage to the future and careers of Tamil Nadu youth since the students could not communicate when they cross the State border towards north India.

Talking to reporters in Ramanathapuram on April 8 (Saturday), he said that the Dravidian parties have no right to say that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is imposing Hindi in Tamil Nadu when they themselves are imposing their anti-Hindi stand on the people, especially the youth in the State, who are deprived of learning Hindi due to the continued opposition of Dravidian parties towards Hindi language.

“What are they (D-parties) doing even now, more than five decades after the death of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru who said that Hindi will not be imposed in Tamil Nadu from Delhi ? Is it correct to still cling on to that policy when our students are losing out to others? Are not the Dravidian parties imposing their stand on Tamil Nadu people when there is interest among younger generation to learn Hindi language from school ?. Dravidian parties have no right to criticise the BJP that we are imposing Hindi…infact, it is the major Dravidian parties who are imposing their stand on our people,” the senior BJP leader has said.

Mr. Ganesan has urged the youth of Tamil Nadu to understand the importance of Hindi and why they have to learn Hindi language for their future and not to fall prey to the anti-Hindi stance and slogans of Dravidian politics.

“When you are so sensitive about the highway stones, also be sensitive to education policy…forget about Nehru’s assurance long back, think of our youth today. Learning Hindi will only do good,” he retorted in Tamil while replying to a question. (Kallu ku kudukura mukhyathvam, kalvikki kooda kudu).

He said that the anti-Hindi agitations for decades have only brought down the fate and future of Tamil Nadu people and “I appeal that our Tamil Nadu students must learn Hindi language as three-language priority – Tamil, English and Hindi.”

“I will say today that the BJP will advocate for Hindi in Tamil Nadu schools only for the good future of students. Central syllabus school students are learning Hindi. Also see the Navodhaya schools in our country. Clinging on to anti-Hindi policy is doing only damage to the people of Tamil Nadu,” he added.

Mr.Ganesan answered a volley of questions from Ramanathapuram mediapersons on R.K.Nagar assembly by-election campaign where allegations of cash distribution to voters surfaced, Sethusamudram project, recent GST Act and its advantages, digital transactions, fishermen issues and Sri Lankan government stand on Tamil Nadu fishermen and the Supreme Court direction on closure of liquor shops/TASMAC shops along the national and State highways.

Ki.Muralidharan, BJP Ramanathapuram district president, A.Sundara Murugan, district treasurer (Ramanathapuram), Subha Nagarajan, State vice-president, Karmegam, district general secretary and district secretary Atma Karthik were among those who received the BJP senior leader when he reached Ramanathapuram on April 8.

Mr.Ganesan took part in various meetings including the BJP district core committee meeting and office-bearers meeting besides interaction with local people on a host of issues especially with regard to Ramanathapuram district.
