MADURAI: Leaders and cadres of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have gathered in large numbers in Madurai city on March 11 (Saturday) to celebrate the party’s resounding victory in the Assembly elections held in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
They also sent out a signal that the BJP will be a major significant party in Tamil Nadu very soon as a strong alternative to the two Dravidian parties in a similar manner in which the BJP had performed well in the north-eastern State of Manipur.
Huge celebrations and joy erupted near the Periyar bus stand in Madurai by around noon as cadres started to throng
when the result trend became clear that the BJP was heading to a landslide victory in the country’s important State of UP and also in Uttarakhand.
Leading the party cadres, BJP district president Mr.Saseeraman distributed sweets, burst crackers, spoke to the media and thanked the voters in UP and other States for giving the party a great victory and acknowledging the good work being done by the Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi and his team fro the progress and development of the country in social, economic and global spheres.
Party leaders in Madurai started for the celebrations in a big way in the morning itself when the early trends in counting indicated that the BJP began with a bang and end up with a historic victory especially in Uttar Pradesh where it had touched triple century.
“Our Prime Minister Mr.Modi took the decision of demonetisation and this election result there had indicated that the voters welcomed that because they were also against corruption, black money and fake currency. In the same way, our party will do very well in elections in Tamil Nadu and our cadres are working in that direction,” Mr.Saseeraman said while talking to the media.
This was the second time the Madurai BJP had organised victory celebration in the last few days after the cadres celebrated the party’s huge success in the local body corporation elections held in Mumbai, and the victory in other local bodies in Maharashtra recently.
U.Hari Singh, senior BJP leader, C.M.Mari Chakkaravarthy, BJP youth wing State general secretary, S.K.Hariharan, district vice-president, C.Saravanan, district traders’ cell president, D.M.Balakrishnan, district general secretary, Raja Sampathkumar, youth wing Madurai district President and Ms.Meenambigai, women’s wing district president were among those who took part in the celebrations waving the party flags and in sweets distribution.
