MADURAI: One of the well known private hospitals in Madurai city- MIOT Hospital- was fined by the Madurai Corporation today for dumping medical waste in public place. The hospital is in Corporation Zone-2, Ward 44, Melur Mian Road and near the integrated vegetable market.
On 10th August 2020, Madurai Corporation Commissioner Mr.S.Visakan had instructed that a penalty of Rs.50,000 should be collected from this private hospital in Madurai city for dumping medical waste in corporation barbage dustbins, sources said here today.
It was learnt that a special team from the Madurai Corporation had inspected the area and the hospital was fined Rs.50,000. Health inspectors Mr.Om Sakthi, Mr.Manoharan and sanitary inspector Mr.Mariappan along with sanitary workers were involved in this inspection.
