MADURAI: The recent appeal made by a school HM in Tirunelveli district in Tamil Nadu to saloons / hairdressers to avoid certain types of haircuts to school students is being welcomed by senior academicians and educationists.

IT WILL DISTRACT:

Dr.P.S.Navaraj, former Dean of Academic Affairs at Yadava College and former Principal of Annai Fathima Arts and Science College in Tirumangalam in Madurai, told ‘Lotustimes’ news website today November 14th 2019 that the HM’s letter to saloons is a very welcome move in the interest of boys who are tempted to go for trendy haircuts.

“Hairstyle and dressing pattern are something that influences the psyche of a student and his behaviour. Parents should not be careless in this matter because out of my long experience I can say that hairstyle too influences a student’s learning concentration. The way of walking, the haircut style, carrying a notebook in his hand etc……All these determines the student’s attitude. What we expect is a cultured behavior and a neat hairstyle will do positively impacts the boy’s studies,” Dr.P.S.Navaraj has said.

According to him, a students who comes with a different haircut or a hairstyle will not be able to concentrate in a classroom because his attention will be to attract fellow students in the campus and ultimately it will psychologically ‘distract’ him from learning.
